The tides are starting to turn. I realized yesterday that I love this age, right now, this minute. I don't want them to change. They are so sweet and cute and fun. They bestow kisses freely and happily. They have very earnest conversations in complete gibberish. (Or maybe I'm just not smart enough to understand them.) They take delight in the simplest things. They learn so quickly. And they are snuggly and cuddly and happy to let you hold them in your arms and just enjoy how wonderful they are.
Sure, they still have their less-than-shiny-happy moments, but we can deal with that. I love life with these kids exactly as it is at this moment. I don't want a thing about it to change. How can it get any better than this?

Sigh, mine are so big now and while I love their independence I do miss the innocence and fun of those formative years.
My youngest will turn five in a couple of weeks, and as he played on my bed this morning while I was getting ready for the day, I found myself in tears as I watched him because I'm so madly in love with this child and this stage of his life. Obviously, I'm going to be crying about something when he's five (and 25...sigh...), so I understand totally what you're saying here. It's an ache in your heart you can't help but be happy about.
I know. I know.
We should invent a hyber-growth-stunting chamber and put our kids in it every night.
OR.
Tresure each moment.
I try every day to come up with some scheme to slow this boat down--so far NOTHING :(
I think we all understand that feeling all too well.
So well put and so true!
