Lumpy

My doctor, the talented, witty, and lovely Dr. Sheila, says I have globus pharyngeus, or a lump in my throat. (Fear not, friends -- this ailment is completely harmless to me. It's just annoying.) Dr. Sheila says my globus is most likely the result of stress (both too much and poorly managed). However, I have a few other theories. Reasons I might have a lump in my throat (in no particular order):
  • Watching my kids grow up so fast is immensely gratifying, and also terrifying. How can I keep them little forever?
  • I can't stand the fact that Joanna and Alejandro are still in Guatemala. Come home, Jo!!
  • The Harry Potter saga is finished. Finis. Done for good.
  • Julie is moving to St. Paul! Soon! Forever!
  • Battlestar Galactica won't have new episodes until next year! (Plus, I'm still sad about Billy.)
  • Airan has been traveling for work more often than he's been at home lately. Every time he leaves, the girls and I are sad until he returns.
Given all this, who wouldn't have a lump in their throat?

Yikes! It gives me a lump just reading it! Sigh.

Another thing to hate about our attorney--he's giving my friend lumps! I miss you, Kel!

I'm sorry. I also got a lump in my throat reading this post. Does warm liquid help at all? Maybe you need lots of massages to help with the stress.

I'm sorry to be one of the causes of your lumpy throat, Kel! (BTW, love the new blog design! Though I liked the old one, too.)

I was a Navy wife, so I know it's no fun having your husband and the father of your children out of town.
I didn't know I had OI children, and that knowledge adds to your stress.
I wish Dad and I were closer so that we could help, but you have a great support group in all your friends.
You know you can always call me.
You're a wonderful young woman and your Dad & I are very proud of you.
Don't feel guilty about taking some time to take care of yourself.

Okay, seriously, friends -- back me up on this. If your doctor calls you at 6:00 pm on a Sunday to discuss your bloodwork, do you not assume she's calling to tell you you have cancer?? Jeez! That woman called just to tell me I'm fine! Save it for Monday morning, and save me the heart attack!

Keep that doctor. Any more it seems like most doctors are to busy to call even if you do have cancer.
I got a call from my doctor's aid who told me the x-rays of my lower back were normal.
What do you say to an aid? "Seriously, lady, none of my x-rays are normal."
PLUS, she didn't mention any further steps I should take to investigate what IS causing the pain and what to do about it.
Yeah, a doctor that calls you on Sunday to tell you you're OK is a keeper.

After a lengthy discussion with you the other day about your lumpy throat, I was eating pretzels and felt a little lumped up in the throat. I was sure that somehow I had caught the same thing you had. But the gallon of water I drank seemed to have washed down the lump. Phew.
(what? Did you just say hypochondriac?)
