As I type this, I can smell smoke. I hear sirens and helicopters. I assume this fire is the cause. I tell you, this is a little closer than I like to get to dangerous situations, even though it's several blocks away. Would evacuating be an overreaction?

I'm hoping everything is ok....
Did you pack up the troops and head out?
I could see the smoke from the kitchen-side of my apartment, so I took the dogs over to check it out. Pretty crazy. And what a mess!
That news story looked scary!
I saw the teaser on the news, but I didn't watch it to realize it was so close. Yikes!
The apartment building half a block away from us burned down and I slept through it. I didn't know anything had happened until I came home from work and saw the fire trucks with crews cleaning up.
What's realy scary is . . . I didn't notice the fire trucks putting out the fire when I was on my way to work. I must have been sleep-driving.
I'm glad you guys are OK. Do you have a fire escape or a ladder that you could climb out the window with. You should. You do have to exits from your building, but that ladder wouldn't be a bad idea. You and Airan would have to climb down while each carrying a girl.
Now I'm scaring myself.
You all take care and kiss my granddaughters for me.
Oh my gosh! I'm here way after the fact, but hope things turned out ok.
As a girl who spends hours in the closet in the basement at the mere hint of a tornado warning nearby, I'd probably have taken a little trip!
All is well here -- we didn't end up running for the hills. However, the three families who lost businesses to the fire weren't so lucky. I hope they'll be able to recover quickly.
