Cheese, Glorious Cheese
The choir in which I sing had an open rehearsal tonight -- anyone was welcome to sit in and listen to our preparations for the swiftly approaching concert series next month. After rehearsal, the choir hosted a wine-and-cheese reception for our visitors. Luckily for us choristers, none of our guests stayed until the end of the rehearsal, so the wine and cheese, etc., were all ours.
So I'm stuffing my face with some fantastic cheese because, like usual, I didn't have time to eat dinner before rehearsal. And a fellow singer, also enjoying the fromage, says "Cheese is great for when you need to gain weight quickly."
And I'm thinking to myself, "Funny, I don't have a problem with that. It comes to me naturally."

You are a real singer (bows head in sadness). Will you still let me sing Little Mermaid songs with you?
LOL...and now you are a stand up comedienne!
Factoid: Did you know that cheese has opiates?

So that is why I can't give it up!
Who "needs" to gain weight quickly? Crap! If that was my problem I don't think I'd have trouble finding something to pack it on with. .. .. cheez..I mean, Jeez.
And Nanette--She'll let you sing with her.. it just has to be Prince or Billy Joel. :)
This explains the problem I have, then, with spreadable cheese, cheese in a spray can, processsed cheese slices, cheesy movies and Cheez-Its.
When you guys get together to sing, can I come along and mouth the words and act like I know how to sing? If not, I'll just be dancing behind you and that may not be cool.
Hey, fadkog, you can lip-sync if you want to, but know that singers of all skill levels are welcome to sing Prince, Paul Simon, or Little Mermaid songs with me at any time. No need to fake it!
Nanette, while I didn't know that cheese has opiates, I am so not surprised. Thus my addiction (and everyone else's, it seems!).
Now I really want to come and sing with you all and eat cheese!
Why can't cheese be one of those foods that melt the pounds away--oh, because it tastes good, duh.
I'm surprised you didn't pick up that cheese and shove it in your fellow choir member's face.
If you had only inherited your Dad's metablolism instead of mine. Sure, he's a little chubby these days, but when he was your age he was really thin. When we got married I out-weighed him. I weight 130 lbs and he weight 127.
Prince songs?! Well, color me peach and black! Girl, I'm all freakin' over that! When can we do this, and can I have the Sheena Easton part in "U Got The Look"?
fadkog--can we share that please, I love that part--
I would love to need that.
