Cold Blooded

It's only September, and I'm dying to turn on the heater. How will I ever survive winter??

I just read in today's paper that the local utility company expects our bills to be lower this winter. How thoughtful of them.

It's a little chilly here in the morning.. but by afternoon it's a balmy 78 again. I put a space heater in the dining room two mornings ago for the children so they can eat breakfast without complaining.

They say Chicago-area electric bills are supposed to be 25% higher this winter. Great.

This is my winter trick to beat the chills: I have one of those faux fur/mink throws. It sounds tacky, but it's a really pretty deep brown, and incredibly soft. I swear it's like a heating blanket. I put it on top of the covers in the winter (just over me--my husband is his own heater) and it really warms me up. I think it is as warm as my thick down comforter that I can't use anymore (due to said heater husband.) I use it on the bed and also on the couch at night while watching tv.
