Child "witches" targeted in Nigeria
Revisiting the topic of witches (because we had such stimulating conversation last time): This is what comes of belief in witches. This is a very real example of the dangers inherent in such mystical and illogical thinking.

The only comment I have to make here is that you have to double verify the source.
Just about anything can happen, the question is, is it an isolated incident, or is it common practice.
Both are disturbing, but the first indicates there are a few idiots in the world, the second indicates that there's major idiocy in the world. (I guess those statements are probably both true.)
What Dreams is a big proponent of verifying sources for reports such as the poll and newspaper article we've been discussing, and I heartily agree with her. Can we also stress the importance of verifying sources for, say, the Bible?
The Bible is mythology, although all too many people won't accept that, and should be subject to the same academic standards as . . . say . . . The Illiad.
Yes! Everything is open for scrutinity, and only fools think otherwise.
